Butterfly Tot School

Love Bug is currently 38.5 months old

This week we learned about butterflies. It was suppose to be bugs also...but we got really focused on butterflies, and that was plenty. 

We are super excited because we are raising butterflies!! 

We ordered a kit from Insect Lore

and also ordered the classroom refill kits from their website directly. We divided up the caterpillars between all of our tot school friends. 

Love Bug and her siblings are raising 15 caterpillars!

TOTS TOGETHER!

This week we worked on our fine motor skills with our Scatterpillar game

 Made AB patterns with some bug erasers (Love Bug is getting really good at AB and we've started adding ABB and AAB)

 Learned how butterflies grow

 Watched a Youtube video of butterflies growing

 Had a butterfly snack (thank you pinterst)

 Made cute butterfly glass hangings with clear contact paper and paper (thanks CH)

 Love Bug's finished piece

 Read the very hungry caterpillar

 and then practice our fine motor again by stringing all the foods he ate

 and learned how to take care of our caterpillars and help them grow into butterflies

We can't wait to see our butterflies, but we have several weeks still!!

We also took a field trip to a local Butterfly conservatory

 So much butterfly fun!!

Pond Tot School

Love Bug is currently 38 months old

This week we worked on a wonderful Pond Unit from Home School Creations

Love Bug loves frogs, and that's what she was the most interested in. We catch frogs (toads) in our yard. I keep trying to convince her that they are toads, but she's got her mind made up. 

Down the street from us is a pond that we like to check for tadpoles. Love Bug is afraid of the geese at the pond, and she wasn't too keen on the idea this time around. We never made it down to the water. I don't blame her, they have eggs somewhere nearby and were not very happy that we were trespassing in their home. :)

TOTS TOGETHER

We dotted frogs

 Sang five green and speckled frogs (which Love Bug sang in the car for the rest of the week)

 Learned how frogs develope

 Practiced our sight words with our Preschool Prep cards and a frog silicone oven mit

 Fished for upper and lowercase letters

 Made frog puppets

Farm Tot School

Love Bug is currently 38 months old

We learned about farm animals this week. But it was a horribly chaotic week and all we were able to get done was a trip to a farm. Sadly, I wasn't able to attend, but I sent Love Bug with her Tot School friends. 

Love Bug had a great time! They went on a hay ride, fed cows and goats, milked a cow,  pet lots of animals and Love Bug KISSED a llama!!

Baking Tot School

Love Bug is currently 37.5 months old

This week we did a lot of baking fun!!

We used a baking fun preschool pack from Our Little Monkey's

Love Bug LOVES to help in the kitchen. She has three aprons....and two step stools. 

We worked on measuring, cutting, pouring, scooping, stirring, waiting :) and not touching things that are hot. 

Again...horrible with the picture taking this week as we worked on our own. BUT here are the tools we used. 

TOTS TOGETHER

We used our pie topper as a fine motor tool again. The tots practiced putting Hi Ho Cherrio cherries into the pie pan. 

We played with our shape matching cupcakes

Made paper chef hats using lots of different shapes (thanks TH)

Dotted the alphabet 

All the tots cracked open an egg

We read a recipe for chocolate chip cookies

Then took turns helping make them

and stealing a few chocolate chips.....

The mixer was loud, according to Love Bug.

While the cookies were baking, the tots shaped their own pretzels out of bread dough

Then we tasted our baked goods!

Played a shape mating game

And had fun getting the ingredients from a recipe card while playing Cookin' Cookies

We love to bake, but I think we might love eating the yummy food a bit more!
